Silco
Arcane CANON 46 AGE Zenith FACTION Tier 4 HARMONIZATION LEVEL
Post Ep 7/Beginning of 8 (The Bridge 🙃) CANON POINT Male (He/Him) GENDER Harbinger ASPECT ~Tier 2 DISCORD LEVEL
FIRST IMPRESSIONS
At first impression, Silco can be clocked as "small". He's lean, not very tall, with pronounced features on his face. He hunches when he walks, his shoulders slumped forward, and he wears a large trench coat with a wide collar, designed just to make him look larger. He has hands that are mostly smooth -- although they sport a few scars from a youth spent stealing, mining, or fighting -- and are well-kept and manicured. His clothing looks like that of someone who had spent a lot of time picking out what would be appropriate and fine, but still shows signs of the land he came from. His pants sport a not-so subtle stripe (The official Zaunite Pattern of Choice), his boots with metal toes, and he wears a cravat instead of a tie. He looks well-off at first glance, at least from clothing and his hands alone.

However, Silco's face shows the actual damage that a hard life led him through. His lips are scarred in multiple places, and he has several on his upper lip that cut and move up toward his eye, where he has a large scar from just above his lip to his hairline, a dark cut across his face. One can see sinew and muscle below, dark and corrupted -- it's clear this isn't exposed, bloody flesh, but instead corrupted, poisoned scarring. Often, Silco will cover this scar up with makeup, and will draw in an eyebrow. The scar is large enough that he has no eyebrow on his left side. Matching the scar, a streak of white runs through his dark hair -- to match the line from his scar. Altogether, it's jarring, but it isn't the most notable feature that Silco has -- which is the large, black and orange eye. (This is where his monicker -- the Eye of Zaun -- comes from of course.) The corona of the eye glows in the dark, and while he cannot blink with it, the eye itself moves just fine.

Silco also bears a tattoo on the back of his left hand. It's fine and means absolutely nothing, right? Right. He frequently wears gloves to cover both the tattoo, and to prevent himself from inadvertently using his shimmer power. He still wears gloves a lot! But the tattoo is gone! Weird!

SHARD
Silco's shard is long, and thin. It rests at his collarbone. It's dark in hue, like oil slick, but can catch the light with greens and purples, and if just right, it will catch an electric bright neon purple. Silco's shard is normally kept hidden from sight, and it would be unusual to see his shard, unless he has been dissipated.

ASPECT TATTOO
The Harbinger Symbol is at the inside of Silco's right wrist, like an emo star tattoo.

COMMUNION
Communion with Silco is like being doused in cold, polluted water. It feels like taking a breath is difficult, like there's fingers around your throat, pain all over. The water is too-slick like it's almost more pollutants than water, and the water crashes against you, inescapable, even if you were to somehow find the ability to breathe, there is still no escape from the sickening undertow. Somewhere, perhaps deeper in the water, or something else, is a simmering, vile hatred, resentment, and it feels like it should be hot enough to make the water around you boil, even if it's almost too-placid, and too cold. Like all of this hatred is buried deep. Then again, the fact that it feels so present means it must burn so hot.

PERSONALITY
Ill tempered and vile! Next!

BACKGROUND
I'll do this later, but for summary: Former Child laborer works with his best buddy in the whole world to get in the exciting fast-paced world of smuggling, work themselves out of the mines, and then start dreaming of revolution. After that goes to shit, he holds onto the dream, but the best buddy decides to drown him and try to kill him. It's assumed that Silco did something to deserve this but ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ we just don't know. Plots revenge and develops super steroids with the guy they warned you about at the academy, and then tries to take over their city and also kill the backstabby best friend. Oh, and also steals one of his kids and adopts her and ~*~makes her worse~*~ but it's fine because he loves his new daughter more than anything else??? I guess. Proud dad of a terrorist rules crime city until things go belly up.

RETAINER
Silco used to have a retainer! After the repose, he murdered him for moving the business! He's A Nice Guy! He probably won't get a new one, alas!

ABILITIES & SKILLS
Shimmer Touch Similar to his Teamfight Tactics incarnation Silco will be able to pass along essentially the effects of a sizeable shimmer dose to others. This is dispensed with skin-to-skin touch – so Silco would have to touch people to achieve the effects.
The effects of these would be a temporary increase in many "base stats" to an individual, for about 10 minutes. Shimmer grats the following effects:
  • Increased strength (Beyond human, but we aren't talking superman, able to throw a carriage about 10-15 ft)
  • Increased speed (Again, no Flash speed, but beyond human)
  • Increased durability - Able to take more hits and harder to break skin/bones, but you WILL feel it after the effects wear off.
  • Decreased will and intelligence (Think like a berserk condition - you probably aren't hurting loved ones, but not exactly going to be making tactical decisions either)
  • Temporary physical mutations (bulging purple veins, some folks get pustules, your body kind of gets a little bigger, like all the muscles in your body are suddenly RAMPED UP, but at least your eyes glow!) that disappear after the effects vanish.
Like normal shimmer, they would have addictive effects with repeated use -- if used on a PC, this would be more opt-in given a shard bearer’s extraordinary abilities, etc. I really only want this option for opt-in type plotting with players, or NPC plotting with mod approval.
In addition, since this is like drug powers and touch activated, Silco can control the “dosage” and effects, so that he can split the effects up if needed – great for manipulating those kiddos to coming for shimmer doses etc etc. Channeling shimmer does take up Silco’s own energy, so he cannot do more than 2 shimmer touches in quick succession, without suffering strong limitations to his own stamina – 3 in a single quick fight will cause him to weaken considerably (to the point of stumbling around) and 4 would cause him to entirely pass out. Once he recovers strength/gets away and has a lengthy breather (like… a few hours, get a snackie etc) he can go again – although with a higher danger of it completely sapping his stamina until he passes out.

Silco's Shimmer abilities have a chance to transfer Discord from him into his victim. this has to be opt-in from the player, but the amount of discord transferred can vary!

In addition, Silco has the ability to enforce his will on a shimmered individual (This is an additional power that enhances his original Shimmer ability) -- if he uses shimmer with his touch. (No artificial shimmer.) It is not foolproof and can be overcome, but he will use it to nudge or suggest shimmered individuals to comply with his wishes. It's a way to guarantee that they don't betray him. A normal and healthy thing to be worried about.
Make Them Worse When actively used, Silco will be able to see/know something about a character that can be utilized to influence toward making a character dip their toes toward the monstrous. This could be something like an insecurity, a crime from their past, or perhaps something that was done to them, that makes them angry, hurt, or weak, a feeling that they don't like, or even something they wanted to do that they never felt that they could. A facet of their personalities and/or complexes that if they indulge in the feelings of, would trend them toward making bad decisions.

And what makes this power a major power? Using this power, Silco will be able to push those facets of a character, whether it's an insecurity, bad feels, whatever, and influence the character to indulge in those traits/facets. It does not allow him to control a character, but consider it a low-level influence, that when he pushes against these insecurities in conversation, the character may feel the emotions stronger, or be willing to embrace the emotions more, or do the thing they don't think they should even if it feels good. These effects do not linger with any major permanency -- but I leave it up to the other player to determine how long the effects linger (Generally no more than a day). And of course, even when the influence, or the "push" is gone, Characters are allowed to continue to ruminate on it, on how it feels, or how they feel after. There's no memory loss or a feeling of possession or anything like that, the character is fully cognizant -- but it's not really an apparent influence either -- although it's weird that it happened after talking to Silco, huh? :|a

So! For example! Character A feels deep guilt about stealing something from a shop when they were hungry back home, and even worse that they felt good about it, and victorious. Silco, seeing that they feel guilt about enjoying stealing, pushes this in conversation through (naturally) a rant about how stealing from their betters is totally fine. The influence works its magic on the character. The character, having had an interesting talk with Silco, will make a bad decision on their way home, and will take something from a shop, because they wanted it. Of course, it feels good, it always had, but perhaps the guilt isn't there anymore, at least not in the moment. Obviously, our blorbos can feel bad about it later as much as we want -- which just makes it better, as they spiral into a string of poor decisions.

PERMISSIONS POST
Invisibility Silco (and anything on him within reason) can turn invisible. This does not muffle sound, or cause him to not be heard, so he must still sneak if he does not want to be noticed. If Silco is in a threatened space (ie: in combat) he cannot shift into invisibility to escape and must be a reasonable distance from another person before he can shift back to being invisible. Effectively, this means that he can get one sneak attack in, but cannot maintain invisibility if he is in combat.
Vampirism! Silpire lives! (Or UnLives) and has given up food and drink (other than liquor lmao) for blood. Silco has all the classic trappings, including increased strength/speed, enhanced senses, and increased durability. He's also able to heal faster from... most injuries.
Spellbook Spells Tier 1: Alarm, Shield, Prestidigitation
Tier 2: Animate Dead, Heat Metal, Water Breathing
Tier 3: Dimension Door, Anti-life Shell
Tier 4:
Click here for a description! Silco can summon the powers of Zenith by placing his hand to the ground and "pulling" free a figure of strength and speed. It is (essentially) a construct made of the combination of shimmer and zenith power. What this essentially means is that it has the strength and speed of a shimmered individual, coupled with the chill of Zenith's power. When fighting a Meridian, it has the "chilling" effect on Meridian based powers in which their efficacy is reduced by around 50% against either Silco of the construct itself ONLY. It has the appearance of a tall woman sevika that is under Silco's command to essentially protect him from danger/do the physical fighting. It lasts -- generally around a few hours (with some wiggle room if Silco is willing to sacrifice his own energy and power) to continue it long enough to get out of danger. It is constrained to within about 50 foot radius from Silco and cannot leave his range.

OUT OF CHARACTER
Writing Style: I prefer brackets, but I'm happy to match style!
Backtagging: I work a full-time job, have a million hobbies, and like to spend time with buds! I'll backtag for an eternity. I'm not always the fastest!
Tagging Speed: I try to sit down for tags daily, but I do not tag everything daily. I'm more active Fri-Sun but this is not a guarantee. I tag everything w/in a few days normally, but it will not be daily tags from me! I'm too burnt out for that these days.
Threadhopping: Go for it!
Offensive Subjects: I don't have anything in particular you need to warn for!

IN CHARACTER
Physical Violence: He has a very punchable face
Death/Dissipation: If plotted, dissipation is fine! Death is a little less negotiable because... well. Promise ring demon contract.
Physical Affection: Silco is not physically affectionate or keen on it. If it happens, it will likely garner a negative response.
Shipping/Sex: Hm. I am never opposed if it feels right, but... 😬
Mental/Communion: Sure! Silco does not like Communion, and really doesn't like people knowing things about him. So go for it!
Offensive Subjects: Silco's tags often come part and parcel with a few pretty hefty subjects. Child labor, forced drowning, eye trauma, class issues, drugs & drug use, police brutality, parental manipulation/gaslighting, codependency, and parental death. Just to name a few. If any of these make you uncomfortable, let me know, and I'm happy to exclude them from our tags! If you want to opt out, just hmu and let me know! I know Silco is A Lot and he might not be for everyone!
