[ Ace isn't the type of man who'd ever actively aspired to change the world; certainly, it was a dissatisfying place, where he'd sought his own freedom and peace however it could be made. Now, existing in such tight quarters with others like him ( made, like him ), and no foreseeable escape to the open seas, he's forced to reconcile his perspective of "freedom" and how to obtain it. It's not as simple, here. ]
I don't know how to do that. Change things, I mean.
But, I'm strong. And I don't want the people who won't fall in line to get hurt, so I'll work with you on this.
If you haven't met him, there's a guy who arrived β his name is Sabo β he's part of the Revolutionary Army back home. His entire thing is change and defying corruption and oppression. We're a package deal.
Nobody knows, at first. We make mistakes, we make the wrong alliances. We try, and then when it doesn't work, we revise and try again. One must become accustomed to failure to learn to succeed. If you are afraid to try, or afraid in the attempt, then you'll never take the right steps forward.
[ This certainly was something he'd tried to impart to Jinx, too β plenty of times. Time and time again, that failure was a necessary part of the metamorphosis. It was required. Necessary.
He'd learned long ago that being afraid of loss was the way to becoming beaten down by the process.
Oh, but he was the biggest hypocrite, wasn't he? He, too, was afraid of loss. ]
Package deal, hm? Well, good news is that I have met him. So we're already all on the same page.
And I am very happy to encourage others interested in revolution to take the right steps.
