[ Once Sevika knew she'd be shipping out to Solmara to get the lay of the land, there was one thing she couldn't leave festering. Silco. She wouldn't try messaging him first as that would be pointless and irritating, inevitably left on read, so, no. Instead, she just shows up.
And waits.
It's one of those rare times Silco actually leaves the station and when he does finally return, he'll find his office already occupied by Sevika herself, idly smoking while she waits. Despite considering it, she hasn't taken a seat in his chair, behind his desk, because it would send the wrong message.
But there is a couch off to the side and that's good enough to hang out on, in the dark, watching the murky aquarium overhead until that door creaks open. Maybe he already smelled the fresh smoke of a cigarette, maybe he already expects someone, or maybe not. When he does finally appear, she simply looks at him. ]
So. [ So what? ] Looks like you haven't burnt the place down yet.
[ He slinks in, though as soon as he made it to the underground space, he knew something was... off. Jinx was generally easy to identify when she was in, and the only other person who know that this existed was Sevika β though he did not doubt that Vander also could find the way were he properly motivated β
It's his office where they are. The smell of smoke isn't as reassuring as it should be.
He opens the door with his knife out, though not ready to go at her. Just in his hand, idle. His other holds a bottle of liquor. Go figure.
His lips twitch, and he looks Sevika up and down.
He's surprised she wasn't in his seat, given what he knew now. It would have been just typical, usurping him, wouldn't it? Ah, maybe that's why she hasn't done it. ]
I'm perfectly capable of not setting things on fire, Sevika.
[ He says in a voice that's just a tad bit too tired. He sets the bottle on the desk, and rounds it. His knife is on the desk now, stabbed in. It isn't the one he used to keep, but it's something. ]
Come to gloat again?
[ It should sound meaner, it would, if Silco were... alright, but he sounds... tired. Probably more tired than he should, given the time of day. ]
[ If he sounded anything less than tired, she'd have been irritated beyond belief by the question. Even so, of all the damn stupid things to ask... Her gaze follows him as he makes his way around the desk. ]

[ Maybe she hadn't, but Silco had certainly built it up in his head. Every comment, every little thing the "future" version of her had said felt mocking in retrospect. Something that made him furious, and angry.
He's mad because to him, it sounds like they capitulated. To him, everything that he had done was for nothing. He'd done so much, given up more than he'd created. He'd become a monster because there was no other way, that was the only way that worked β wasn't it? It had to be. It had to be, because the alternative was... ]

[ She did. In his mind, it was obvious. Dangling that over his head, asking questions like he'd know the answer. ]

That would have happened if I hadn't taken it, too. At least this way I can keep them out of Zaun long enough to handle the fallout of all the chembarons dropping like flies.

It was always going to go this way, be this way. They hated them for what had been done to them, for every little slight. Every sneer. Every dead body. They had been looked down on for long enough that they both understood what it was that they were fighting for. Sevika was the only one that could have convinced him.
Oh, if only it hadn't been for Vander's big damn mouth, telling him to "be a mentor". The thought rises to the surface, and Silco feels that old asp lash out, a strike Anger. Hot like molten lava. Anger at them, for trying to manipulate them into compromising. To try to draw them into being theirs. To continuing to work together. ]

They aren't letting us go. They'll never let us go now. Not if we're working with them. Not if they're going to continue to get our profit.
